SG TRAVELER STORY

Three days of hawker food without crossing the city twice

How neighborhood grouping made a short Singapore food trip calmer, cheaper and more varied.

I grouped meals with the museums, parks and neighborhoods already on the plan instead of chasing a famous stall across the island. Breakfast near the hotel, lunch at the nearest hawker centre and one deliberate dinner destination worked better. I carried tissues, returned my tray and kept a backup cashless payment method. Mid-afternoon became the best time for an indoor stop because heat and sudden rain changed the pace of each day.
